Norwegian Aqua Floats Out

Norwegian Cruise Line and its partners at Fincantieri celebrated the float out of the Norwegian Aqua on 23/04/24, from the drydock at the shipyard in Marghera (Venice), Italy.

This marks the completion of the external work on the ship ahead of its April 2025 debut.

At 156,300 gross tons and a length that spans 1,056 feet, the Norwegian Aqua will be 10 percent larger than the first two Prima Class ships. The ship will also offer luxurious accommodations in The Haven by Norwegian®, including the line’s first-ever Three-Bedroom Duplex Haven Suites.

Malcolm says: I remember before the first Prima class ship entered service, NCL’s CEO said it was the “Perfect size”. Now they have made it bigger! The design is similar to MSC’s ‘Seaside’ and the ‘Virgin Voyages’ ships. Some passenger reviews, of the first two of the class, are critical of the small sizes of the public spaces.

    …or the crowds! 😀

Yes that is true but they don’t have the facilities and services of a cruise ship.😁😂

    Rowing boats are cheap!

Malcolm, I/we hope that we can continue cruising on smaller ships, from UK ports for as long as possible. But if that can not happen we will have to just give up ocean cruising.

Edwin, what will we do when they are all like that? ;-)

  6. allotmenteer35 Says:

Malcolm you are correct. I/we will never go on a ship like that

Hi Edwin, Lol…I never though of that! Apparently reviews say that the Prima class has a small ship feel, as their are multiple public rooms. However, some reviews say that the rooms are too small! I guess you will NEVER find out! ;-)

It seems more than a little hypocritical, to me, that mega ships are being built at a yard which launches vessels which have to transit through the lagoon at Venice. It seems they are happy to build ships for 5000 passengers but are not happy to receive 5000 passengers when the ship then docks at Venice……Edwin
